Narrative medicine means many things. For many involved in narrative medicine the priority is about how medicine is represented in literature and how using books and stories can enhance our understanding of medicine. For ANPH members the priority is practicing using techniques that have been developed from narrative principles- however that doesn't mean we don't like reading or using literature to develop our understanding- just that we don't put it at the heart of our practice.
